Waaaay back in January of this year, the great Read/Write Web blog had a good post about mTurk from Amazon. The question is - how is the service about nine months later? Well, there was the big Steve Fossett thing. That wasn't a 'killer app' as much as an interesting social phenomenon online.

The reason the service might be stalling (stuck in neutral?) is that the payout is too low, which doesn't attract workers, a catch-22 thing.

I have to admit that I'm just now getting back into mTurk. Anyone out there who's been there for the long haul want to share your thoughts on the service? Leave a comment or contact me. I wanna talk to you.

In the meantime, let's talk about some ideas for 'killer apps' for mTurk. I always thought it should be used to moderate comments on forums. Problem is the big corporation newspapers won't pay money for it and us small independent publisher can't afford it!
